Welcome!

Welcome to AMF Educational Coaching.  We  offer professional coaching services to students and families to help them discover their strengths and passions. Through the coaching process, the student (or the parent, if the student is a younger child) develops strategies and organizational skills that help them make the most of their educational experience. With a coach to help them along, students are able to discover, often for the first time, how they learn best; and once that door is open they  find success where before there might have only been frustration or failure. Keep reading to find out what coaching can do for you.

Coaching is about finding out  WHO you really are. This discovery can be life changing,  especially if you have struggled in school or other aspects of your life. Coaching is also about CHOICE.  The client chooses what direction to go in, and what path to take. For many students, this element of choice is all it takes to start the transformation.

The pressure and pace of school and work and life often push us in directions that aren’t right for us.  We spend so much time just trying to keep up that we often lose track of  our true selves along the way.  That loss of identity can lead to feelings of frustration and a lack of connection with others. Coaching helps relieve that pressure and provides a safe space for exploring what it is you really want.

For students, coaching is also about strategy. Your coach helps you explore and design systems and strategies that work for you so you can be productive, organized, and successful. Educational Coaching is also about balance. Your coach can help you find ways to balance the three areas of  Study, Social Life and Self Care that are so important for a healthy lifestyle.

For parents, coaching is also about the role you choose to play in your child’s life. Parents often discover that when they step back and let the coach shoulder some of the load, their child is more responsive to new ideas and positive actions. Raising a child isn’t easy, and parents can lose their own sense of direction when all their attention is focused on the family. Coaching helps you take care of yourself as well as those you love.

Coaching is different than therapy. In therapy, clients typically explore the past in order to understand where they have been and how their past experiences are influencing their current lives. In coaching, the emphasis is on moving forward. The client sets the agenda and the coach is there to ask questions to move the client where they want to be. If you are ready to take that next step, give coaching a try!
